This webinar examines the potential influence of various forms of media on teens’ decision to drink. The session will look at music, movies, TV shows and other popular media to decipher the potential take-away messages that kids could internalize. Alcohol advertising in particular will be explored in terms of the contents that grab kids’ attention and the messages ads send about alcohol once our kids are paying attention. This session can be used to raise the awareness of prevention professionals or youth leaders about the tactics of the alcohol industry. The webinar will close with a discussion of how this information can be used to make parents more aware and willing to talk to their kids about media literacy.
