Training Summary
This class was designed for those who seek to increase their effectiveness in the field of grant writing and grant management. Topics will include: Request for Proposal Analysis, Hands-On-writing, Use of Statistics, Collaboration, Identification of Support Documentation, and Sharpening Your Grant Writing Skills. Students are encouraged to submit a grant proposal draft or proposal previously submitted (awarded or denied) for review. Practical tips for ensuring compliance and improving the chances of future success will be presented. In addition to proposal writing and compliance, participants will learn strategies to diversify a nonprofit’s base through individual and corporate donor programs. This class features small group work and one-on-one assistance.

- Critique a well-written proposal.

Audience
This training is designed for SPF-Rx Staff, PFS 2018 and SAPBG Programs Members. The materials provided will be relevant to any substance abuse prevention provider or community coalition member seeking to improve their grant writing skills. Seating is limited and will be assigned based on the following priority: SPF-Rx Staff, PFS 2018 and SAPBG Programs Members.
Skill Level
The event is intended to serve the professional needs of moderate and/or advanced professionals or anyone interested in improving their ability to better manage community-based prevention efforts.
Lunch is on your own, while snacks will be provided. The temperature in the training center may vary, dress appropriately.

About the Duke University Nonprofit Management Program
This training is being offered by the Duke University Nonprofit Management Program.
The program curriculum offers a structured and rigorous grounding in the establishment, operation, and continuation of a successful nonprofit. The curriculum reflects a comprehensive evaluation of the needs of the changing nonprofit sector. Managing a nonprofit has developed in new and exciting ways.
Nonprofit courses are designed for those working in and with the nonprofit sector -- whether they are staff, directors, program administrators, board members, philanthropists, members of faith-based communities, volunteers, or those interested in employment or volunteering.
This training offered by NCTTA and SPF-Rx can count toward the successful completion of the Certificate in Nonprofit Management requires that a student complete 72 hours of instruction, which will be divided among core areas and electives. Students interested in earning the Certificate will be required to take five Core Courses of 6 hours each for a total of 30 hours. An additional 30 hours of Key Electives within the core areas are required. Finally, students may take General Electives, Special Topics in Nonprofit Management, or additional Key Electives to complete their instruction. Online courses are available as General Electives; a maximum of 12 hours of online courses may be applied to the Certificate.
